This book has good basic information on what Ayurveda is (which I promise, barely scratches the surface of this beautiful and ancient system of healing; think iceberg...), the doshas, some yummy recipes, and lovely ideas for ritual practices to incorporate into your daily life if you so desire, to support mindful balance in all aspects of our mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical selves (e.g. meditation, tongue scraping, oil pulling, creating an altar, yoga, etc.) irrespective of your belief system and faith, this sweet book has lots of information and positive practices to help shift one toward a more healthy, gentle, and self-loving lifestyle. It may even spark an interest in further exploring the phenomenally intricate ancient healing wisdom of Ayurveda.Definitely check out the Daily CCF Tea (Cumin, Coriander, & Fennel) which is surprisingly nourishing, grounding, and energising.So, I do love and recommend this book and have already devoured and loaned out my copy...All that said, the overall editing could have been a bit more stellar, particularly in regard to consistency in format (information not being grouped in the same ways in some places) which annoys me greatly. I feel that the presentation can be greatly improved upon and should there be a newly edited version at some point, more illustrative photos would be nice.All in all, a great first book by Susan Weis-Bohlen!! Kudos.
Decent guide with some good tips , it could be a great intro for people who really haven't heard anything about ayurveda previously, and is useful for helping one ease into a new routine. However, there is not much in the way of recipes, which I had been hoping for.
Great book on basics and intro to principles. I’m looking forward to learning more and practicing. I recommend it for novices like myself. Would like a few more resource recommendations. Have found some other books with great recipes.

This book is a great jumping in point for practical Ayurveda. It’s “simple†as others point out, but it’s meant to be so. It’s for those who want to get their feet wet quickly while learning. The dosha diagnostic quiz is great too.
